I love all of her movies. I have two of them myself, and am in the midst of collecting them all. I have four of her books, and would love to have more! Who would not love Jane Austen? It speaks of the heart of a woman, desperately longing for a man who is strong!
Speaking of Jane Austen, have any of you seen Becoming Jane? I did! Let me know what you opinion is of it! I liked it, except for one scene in it. I really couldn't enjoy it to the fullest as I was helping my sister with my nephew, Gabriel, not a Jane Austen fan, yet! He will soon learn!

I like Jane Austen too!! I own 7 of her films.I also have the Everyman collection of her six novels.I haven't read them yet, though I would like to see how they compare to the films.
The books also can speak to males.Peter J Leithart wrote a book about Jane Austen whose first chapter was called "Real Men Read Austen".
I have considered seeing Becoming Jane.I have read mixed reviews of it.
Nice to see you back.
I love Jane Austen, but I prefer books, not movies. :)
Jane Austen had a certain style about her that I find interesting. Emma is what my daughter and I are reading together. I like to read books in different eras to learn from these women.
Laura,
I am a Jane Austen fan, delighting in her insight on human relationships and on the values she held. For this reason, Becoming Jane was disappointing, because those in and responsible for the movie didn't seem to have gotten the messages of her books. While the friend with whom I went to see it and I tried to think of good things to say about it right afterwards, most of what we thought was negative. The best storyline to me was Jane's relationship with her sister. I think they should have made a whole movie about that, because her sister seemed to be more inspiring and contstructively critical than any "real life" romance.
In reading your profile, I thought to ask whether you've seen Wives and Daughters? That's a movie worth seeing, but be warned. It is about five hours long.

Lisa of Longborn,
After contemplating on the movie, Becoming Jane, I would have to agree, that there was way too much focus on the romance, and not enough on family relationships.
No, I have not seen Wives and Daughters! None of our movie stores around here, have it. It is disappointing, because I have heard alot about it.As to it's length, I am not worried about that! I have seen Lord of the Rings all in a row, 12 hours, so do not worry about five hours. Besides, I have the 1996 Pride And Prejudice, and it is 5 hours long too!
In Christ Alone!

I did "Trilogy Tuesday" in the theaters when Return of the King came out! It was awesome. And I did a party when Extended Return of the King came out, with all three back to back. I have some very tolerant friends!
When did you spend 12 hours watching Lord of the Rings? Did you finish three scarves?
Today (ok, yesterday now) is Tolkien day, being Bilbo and Frodo's birthday. I spent the afternoon celebrating with a friend. We read parts aloud, baked cupcakes to give away, went to used bookstores, raised "glasses" at 9:22 PM, and danced on our beat-up coffee table!
Thanks for answering my comment.
What do you think of the Jane Austen Book Club movie that's coming out? I've only heard rumors that it's lacking plot. Have you heard anything?
